Notice of marriage booking

This booking process is for a face to face appointment, you may submit notices by post, please contact us for more information.

Lodging Marriage Notice Forms

Your marriage cannot take place without the submission of your legal marriage notices.

You must lodge with the Registration Service in the local authority district where the ceremony is to take place.

You should lodge the necessary notice forms and supporting documents 6-8 weeks before the date of your marriage. The documents must be submitted no later than 29 days prior to your chosen date of marriage to allow you to fulfil your legal notice period.

If you are subject to immigration control, the Home Office have the authority to increase the statutory notice period to 71 days in certain circumstances. You should give 11-12 weeks notice if this may apply.

You cannot lodge your forms more than 3 calendar months before the date of your ceremony.

Your appointment confirmation email will give more information about the documents required at the appointment and a link to the relevant forms.

 

Religious or Belief Ceremonies (Minister, Humanist etc.) 

Payment for the lodging of your forms is required as part of this booking process. The fee for lodging your notice paperwork is £90 plus £10 for one copy of your marriage certificate after the marriage has been registered.

 

Civil Weddings (Registrar Officiating) 

Payment of £90 for notice lodging is included in your booking fee.

 

 

You may submit your marriage notices by post if it is more convenient, you can find the addresses for our registration offices here. Please do not continue with booking if you wish to submit your notices by post. Your notices must arrive at the office more than 29 days before your date of marriage.
